The “express” in “Express Winemakers” actually refers to the expression since Ryan O’Meara, the winemaker behind the label, is all about letting the unique places where his grapes are grown to express themselves in the finished wine. This place in this case is Frankland River, a sub-region of the larger Great Southern zone of Western Australia.
This wine may be a Riesling but it’s a pretty unique one. First, it’s from a region that makes terrific Riesling but is unfortunately usually overshadowed by the more famous Margeret River nearby. Second, it’s aged in both oak barrels under flor and ceramic eggs, which is not only cool but also gives a unique texture and a lot more complexity to the wine.
