Claudia and Alberto Carretti first purchased this tiny 6 hectare estate as a farm in 1971 and converted it into vineyards in 1989. Since then they’ve had a singular vision of using nothing but organic practices in the vineyard and a curiosity for old-school, more traditional winemaking techniques.
This wine is made from Barbera, a rich red variety more associated with the Piedmont region further north. Here it is made into a delicious sparkling red wine. The bubbles aren’t overly aggressive and the wine is best served only slightly chilled rather than ice-cold as is common with white sparkling wines.
